Walter ‘Howard’ Sparke was born on 17th October, 1939 and passed away on 22nd April, 2024.
Aged 84 years. Late of Palm Lake Care, Bargara and formerly of the Darling Downs and further west QLD. Passed away on April 22nd, 2024. Beloved husband of Shirley. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Harley & Bella, Sam & Katrina and Wendy (dec’d). Loving ‘Pop’ of Sam, Tao, Sihan, Rex, Phoenix, Chilli, Sapphire, Sara, Anna, Mac, Cedric and great-grandfather of Juniper and Macie. Dearly loved son of Eric & Anne Sparke (both dec’d) and son-in-law of Harry & Rebekah Hinz (both dec’d). Loved brother and brother-in-law of Roger & Nerylea, Geoff (dec’d), Judith (dec’d) and loved uncle of their respective families.

Relatives and friends of Howard and his family are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service to be held in The Chapel, “Branyan Gardens” Cummins Road, Branyan on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at 2:00pm.

My memories of Howard were always of a man of imposing presence but always gentle humility. Even as a young lad he treated me with respect afforded a man. He was never one to suffer fools but I guess he must have made an exception in my case. And although a man of few words, he always meant exactly what he said, delivering every comment with pithy dryness that often exceeded that of the parched soil of his outback origins.
