Thomas Blacket “Tom” Robertson was born on 4th August, 1933 and passed away on 3rd September, 2023.
Aged 90 years. Late of Wearing Road, Bargara. Passed away peacefully at Palm Lake Care, Bargara on September 3rd, 2023. Beloved husband of Lola. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Keith (dec’d) & Natalie, Suzanne & Paul, and Kerry & Geddes. Loving Grandpa of Jake, Alani, Andrew, Kathryn, Angus, and Mitchell. Dearly loved son of Bruce & Kathleen Robertson (both dec’d). Loved brother and brother-in-law of Beth (dec’d) & Bob, and loved uncle of their respective families.

To Lola and Family, I worked with Tom at Main Roads and remember him fondly. I think of him each year, on his birthday, as we both had birthdays in August. Sorry for your loss
For Lola and family, my sincere sympathies for your loss. Tom was District Engineer with Main Roads here in Bundy when I started in 1980. I always found Tom a sincere and kind gentleman, only too willing to listen to what a young kid had to offer.
Hello Lola. So sorry to hear. When I started work, Tom was our District Director. Was one of the best leaders we’ve ever had. Still think of him even though it has been around 35 years – what a lovely man he was. Was only a week ago I took a drive to where you used to live in those days. Gone but not forgotten. Hugs for your loss.
A great boss to work for, cool calm and collected. Some of the best years of my working life with relatively young group of staff.

Sad to hear that news. Tom was definitely the best boss that I ever worked for and still remember the Bundy days as the best days of my working life. Sincerest condolences to you and the family Lola.
Just a note, Tom has been the longest serving District Director of Main Roads – 18 years & 17 months.

And yes he was very patient with all our youthful shenanigans 🙂

Tom was a hero of mine. The best people manager I ever met. He was sincere, no airs and graces for Tom, he was the real deal.
Hey Geoff, odd that I googled his name for no particular reason. I recall going in to see him one day after a rat chewed through Kruger’s tupperware sandwich container before smoko. He laughed out loud while being compassionate, only he could do that. He loved the ordinary man stuff. He told me stories about building a fire on the horizon so the the grader drive had something to aim at. That meeting triggered the plans to build the new lab. He was a great man.

Sincere condolences to you and your family, Lola. Tom was my boss for 7 years in the early 80s. He was one of natures true gentlemen. In my 45 years with Main Roads, I never met another person in a leadership role with more integrity or compassion.
