Peter John ‘Pete’ Brown was born on 9th May, 1954 and passed away on 26th May, 2021.
Aged 67 years. Late of Hunter Street, Burnett Heads. Passed away unexpectedly during his morning ocean swim on May 26th, 2021. Beloved husband of Debbie. Dearly loved father & father-in-law of Meredith & Dean, Adrienna & Sam, Philippa & Luke. Adored ‘Gran Dude’ of Henry and Fraser. Much loved brother & brother-in-law of Christine & Richard, Robin & David, Rosemary & Chris, Simon & Janet and Benjamin (dec’d). Loved uncle and cousin of their respective families.

Heartfelt condolences Debbie and family. Pete was a lovely man and he will be greatly missed by many.
We were devastated, we liked Pete so much, and had looked forward to spending time with Pete and Debbie after his retirement.
I worked with Peter at Wide Bay TAFE and at the SC College, and enjoyed catching up with him in recent years along the Burnett Heads foreshore where he was usually either cycling with the dogs or off to go swimming. I will remember him as an astounding educator and provided quality graduates to the horticulture industry. His knowledge was fathomless in some many areas. He had a quirky sense of humor and could see the funny side of life. He had an inquisitive mind, always researching for a project or paper. I will miss our perchance meetings and hope Debbie and their family find solace in the legacy he left behind.

I go to the ocean to say goodbye – but never to forget you – my ocean swimming buddy.
Pete always headed to swim in deeper parts of the ocean where others feared to go. His mind, unlike ours could not be tamed – the freedom of the wild oceans seduced and lured him – long arms reaching out to his sanctum on each swim – his place of peace.
The Old Man of the oceans and marine life welcomed and enjoyed Pete’s company.
No harm did they ever consider.
In the end when his body was too tired to live,
Gently on the shore they laid him.
I believe the Old Man of the seas could not resist taking Pete’s spirit.
A rare strong and loving energy of white light.
A very desirable constant companion.
The Old Man’s existence, like mine, made fuller with conversations with Pete.
No topic for Pete not of interest.
Now a universal library granted to explore for his answers.
I believe Pete will delight in joining the wise Old Man in travels around the seven seas.
Forever swimming with dolphins.
His curious mind kept busy discovering marine life species and especially new plants.
Pete forever in his ocean sanctum, forever at peace.
Pete’s love for his treasured Deb and family was unconditional and incalculable.
They can be assured that each night his new companion will show him a place to watch over them all.
See his grandchildren grow.
Where his constant love and attention will forever shine over his beloved Deb and girls.
The moon also knew Pete.
At the end of that day, 26 May 2021, the moon saw the end of Pete’s earthly life.
It felt the huge loss.
So with massive intent of an honorary farewell it extended.
That sad day the moon with all its power stepped up to provide Pete a memorable closure.
The Heavens ignited as the sun went down,
the skys eclipsed the rare Super Flower Blood moon.
Forever his family and friends will remember a humble good man…
Pete.
Pete’s earthly light and energy is gone.
His loss like chains tugging at grief, tugging at our hearts.
But behind he leaves a collection of lovely memories that will never be lost.
Memories for all who were blessed to know him,
Especially for those, without judgement Pete so easily called his friend.
So many more cherished memories for his family.
His constant unconditional love knew no boundaries.
I recall his interest in what others had to say,
Always quick to offer generous assistance.
A scholar Pete was obtaining hard earned accolades.
A massive reservoir of knowledge.
But recognition for his successes he humbly brushed aside.
Laughs with Pete will remain a constant warm memory.
His quick sharp wit and twinkle in his eye.
So many wonderful memories of Pete will remain, filling the emptiness of his loss.
A rare, very good man.
Farewell my friend, you will not be forgotten – at peace you will remain.
