Late of Argyle Village, Avoca and formerly of Childers, Maurice passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2026, aged 83 years. Loving partner of Margaret. Dearly loved father of Rodney, Leanne, Jason and Catherine. Dearly loved ‘Poppy’ of Caitlin, Dyson, Sienna, Jordyn, Kohan and great-‘Poppy’ of Evelyn. Maurice was a much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

Relatives and friends of Maurice and his family are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service to be held in The Chapel, ‘Branyan Gardens’, Cummins Road, Branyan on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, commencing at 10:00am.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. I meet Maurie on the QLD Railways Site and found that he knew my Dad Les Thorne when we lived at Nonda. He also worked with other people who were employees of QLD rail that had been part of my Dad’s Railway Work life. Many a lifelong friendships were established over the years and it sounds like Maurie was a part of the Brotherhood of the Railwayman Club. He may have taken his last train ride but he will certainly meet heaps of his mates when he arrives at his final destination. RIP Maurie! Jenny Sankey(Thorne)
