John Lawson Reid was born on 3rd October, 1953 and passed away on 25th February, 2023.
Aged 69 years. Late of Burnett Heads and formerly of South Australia and Scotland. Passed away at home with Iris at his side on February 25th, 2023. Beloved husband of Iris. Dearly loved father & father-in-law of Jessie & Tony, William & Michelle, and Lorna. Loving grandfather of Chloe, Maylen, Alistair, Cohen, Iris, Brooke, Yvonne, and great-grandfather of Lillian, Daisy, and Jacob. Dearly loved son of William & Helen Reid (both dec’d) and son in law of Reginald Deacon. Loved brother of Marlynn, Lorne, Anne (dec’d) and loved uncle of their respective families.

Heartfelt condolences from our family. I will always remember the laughter and confusion of my kids when uncle John and his twin Ian showed up to family gatherings. I take comfort in knowing that he’s now with his sister, mum and dad, and his mum granny is giving him an earful for getting there so early.

Could not believe this when i discovered it the other day.I have been looking for John for years on all the Navy websites ,Facebook etc etc no luck at all.By chance i googled him on Sunday and THIS came up.To say that i am profoundly sad is an understatement.We were the very best of mates in the Navy and i was the guy who travelled the world with him when we left the service.My memories of him are legion and even though decades have passed now i will still on occasion burst right out laughing at something he said or did even when i am alone.His personality was stamped on everyone he ever met.NO ONE could have asked for a better mate nobody.
