Claude Frederick ‘Mick’ Cain was born on 6th July, 1946 and passed away on 17th June, 2024.
Aged 77 years. Late of Morshead Street, Avenell Heights. Passed away at the Friendly Society Private Hospital on June 17th, 2024. Dearly loved husband of Erlinda. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Belinda & Joel Porch. Loving grandfather of Isla and Darcy. Loved brother of Cornelius, Russell and Patricia, also Gwen, Bonnie, Brian and Yvonne (deceased).

Relatives and friends of Mick and his family are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel, ‘Branyan Gardens’, Cummins Road, Branyan on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at 1:00pm.

So sorry that my old R & R mate from our tour in Vietnam has passed away.
Mike and I travelled to Taipei together as the only Australians on that flight. We were seated at the back of the DC8 and Mike was miffed at being down the back. I pointed out that we were next to the bar so he was then happier. As we waited for the plane to finish boarding a rather large America senior sergeant Green Beret got on. Now the the Yanks this bloke was next to a God. He dropped his bag into his seat up front of the plane (first class?) and made his was down the back. I thinking why is he coming down here to the rear toilets when there is one up front? He stopped next to Mike and myself – two 19 year olds Diggers. He introduced himself and said he use to be based in Taipei and if we wanted to we could catch up with him on arrival as he knew the place very well. He also had a mate still based there with a car. No obligation he said. We said we would see him on the ground. We did and had a great few days with him and his mate. Interestingly the reason he pick us was that he was based “up country” with Montagnards and two Australian Advisor team members. He told us he had learnt more from them than he had in 9 years with the US Army and he had a huge respect for the AATTV and diggers in general. Mike also borrowed USD 20 from me and many years later came up to me at the 50th Reunion and handed over the twenty he owed me. I had of course forgotten. Also it was twenty AU he hand over not US. Did have a laught about that one.
Rest in peace old mate parade is now dismissed so you can rest.
