Alice Gilby was born on 25th February, 1926 and passed away on 12th February, 2022.
Aged 95 years. Late of Bolton Clarke Fairways, North Bundaberg and formerly of South Kolan. Passed away on February 12th, 2022. Beloved wife of Keith (dec’d). Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Douglas (dec’d), Margaret & Ken, Donna (dec’d), Ronald (dec’d) and Lynette & John. Loving grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of their respective families. Dearly loved sister, sister-in-law and aunt of respective families.

A Funeral Service for Alice will be held at The Chapel, ‘Branyan Gardens’, Cummins Road, Branyan on Monday, February 21st, 2022 at 10:30am.

Lyn, I’m trying to dredge up memories from more than fifty years ago about your mum. I have two. One tragic, one happy. Tragic one? It was when you were living in that house on King Street in Caloundra. I remember your mum looking so sad, so exhausted, so ragged. Being just a kid, and a stupid one at that, I didn’t understand why. It was grief. Your mum was grieving your father. Happy one? Your mum opening up an ice cream cake from a box and starting off ‘happy birthday’ for one of Ronald’s birthdays. That was in the back of the old fish and chip shop on Bulcock Street. Let’s go with the happy memory hey.

Lyn, it seems that they’ve put up second post but not my first. I don’t know why. Just by awful coincidence, I was searching on the web yesterday for you, for reasons I’ll tell you if I can ever contact you. It all brought me to this website to discover your mum’s memorial service on the very same day. I couldn’t believe it. I’m so sorry. I see a tribute from someone in Douglas family. I remember Douglas from the house on King Street in Caloundra. Margaret? I can’t seem to remember ever meeting Margaret. And of course, Lyn, I remember you very well. I even remember the last time I saw you and your mum. I was working in the old Woolworths in Caloundra when you came through the checkout. 1975 maybe? Or was it ’76? If anyone in the Willmer family reads this, could they please get in touch with me. I so much want to talk to you again.
