Condolences to Arby’s family. As a former pupil of Bukali school, along with my siblings Bev and Selwyn, I fondly remember the influence that Arby had on my life. Thanks Arby, I will always remember you.

Arby and Sylvia and the whole Dean family were a great blessing to the Grandchester State School and surrounding community. From 1974 onwards, my sister Cathy and I cherished amazing memories of a wonderful childhood at Grandchester, including many happy school days of beekeeping, crayfish farming, antbed court tennis, overnight camps, singing around the fire, sports days on the sloping oval (and still enough classroom education to allow each student to do anything they wanted in life). This was all possible because of Arby and Sylvia’s love for us all. Thank you Deans for investing so much of your big hearts in our little town. Rest in peace Arby.
Sincere condolences to Arby’s family. I had the pleasure of meeting Arby while working with his beautiful wife Sylvia. I also worked with Arby as a relief teacher when he was Principal at Central. A true gentleman with such a caring and supportive nature. He always made you feel welcome and his eyes lit up when he engaged in conversation about his staff and students. He was an honest and trustworthy colleague who looked for the best in others. I’m sure his gentle nature and wonderful personality traits will make for treasured memories by his family.
He was a great principal at Central School. I’m so sorry for your loss
