Alan Waterworth was born on 22nd November, 1939 and passed away on 13th August, 2021.
Aged 81 years. Passed away peacefully at Bundaberg Base Hospital on August 13th, 2021. Beloved husband of Vivienne (dec’d). Dearly loved father & father-in-law of Nick & Shellie, and Chris.

A Funeral Service for Alan will be held at the Chapel, ‘Branyan Gardens’, Cummins Road, Branyan on Friday, August 20th, 2021 at 2:30pm.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Alan following his difficulties of late. It was such a pleasure to know this kind and interesting man.
Always good for a chat and well read on many subjects, he lived a good life and we loved hearing his stories.
Thinking of Nick and Michelle, as well as Chris at a most difficult time, and hope he will be reunited with his lovely wife Viv quickly.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of dear Alan following his recent difficulties. He was a kind and interesting man who had time for everyone.
Always good for a chat, he was well read on lots of subjects and I loved listening to his stories, Christmas time was great fun over the years for the family.
Our heart goes out to Nick and Shellie as well as Chris at this difficult time and he will be missed.

My time spent in Alan’s company , although limited , was richly rewarding. A good man , he will be fondly remembered.
Our fondest memories of dad include,
The Sunday mornings we spent fishing in our little tinny on the Broadwater on the Gold Coast. At the time they only time off from work dad had was Sunday mornings so pretty special to spend it that way.
He was a very hard worker whether that was growing up where he held several jobs including projectionist at the local cinema, a TV technician – one of the first colour TV technicians in Australia, and for many years as a restaurateur which was very demanding. Dads work ethics rubbed off on us and set the standard we still work towards.
Dad had a great sense of humour and loved a good laugh. You knew when he really thought something was funny because his eyes started to water. He liked to tell a joke – even if we had heard them a dozen time before.
He was proud of his families’ achievements particularly our military service and that of his dad who served during World War 2 and was killed in Dunkirk as a member of the Durham Light Infantry.
Dad loved music and I remember from a very your age parties being had after we had gone to bed with records cranked up. Some of that music remains our favorite today.
He was an unassuming man never extravagant about anything. He was quiet but if you conversated with him you knew you were dealing with a very, very intelligent person.
While proud of his British heritage, we know dad loved Australia. We immigrated in 1969 and Its certain that was the best decision mum and dad made. They became Aussie citizens in the 90’s and were honoured to do so.
He was also very proud of his many years in Rotary. This culminating in Presidency of his Club in Bundaberg, a trip to the Solomon Islands to rebuild a school, and his award of the Paul Harris Fellow for service.
Dad embraced our extended family and had a special relationship with daughter-in law Shellie, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His nephews in Sydney and England remember dad as “a legend” and a “very kind and generous man”. He’s going to be missed by all.
Mum passed a few years ago but dad continued to talk to her every day. Rest easy with mum now dad. We love you always.
Chris and Nick, so very sorry to read of Alan’s passing. He and your mum were the best of friends to Perce & Dorrie. Alan and dad enjoyed a common love of jazz and spent many hours sharing that enjoyment. They were particularly supportive of mum after dad died.
Your dad was a gentle and caring gentleman, a dedicated and honourable man. It was an honour to have been included in many occasions at their home.
May your memories ease your pain and knowing your mum and dad are together again, bring you peace.
Oh pa I came into your family and was embraced with open arms you shared your life with me and loved me as your own I am thankful everyday for knowing the ultimate gentleman I myself have ever met ..thankyou for calling me your daughter forever in my heart always your shellie
Met Alan while on holiday in Cambodia. My friend and i spent a few happy hours in his company and on the River trip. A charming and interesting gentleman. Deepest sympathies to his Family.
A lovely man whose life I have only glimpsed, and am grateful for. His legacy is in the love his family have for him and of those who knew him

Nick Carson & I were friends of your Mum & Dad when we emigrated in 1970 to Sydney after knowing them in Middlestone Moor. We kept in contact seeing each other in Sydney & Melbourne until late 70s early 80s until they moved up north. We had great times with each other until we lost contact early 1980’s.
