  1. Sorry to read of the passing of your dad. I’m sure he had a good life with all his family.
I have lovely memories from your hockey days of both your parents from days long ago.
    Deepest sympathy to you all.

    1. Remember your dad (and Mum) from the early years at St.Mary’s. As time progressed I often met them when out and about. Lovely couple. Deepest sympathy to your families.

    2. Thank you Del. The hockey community did become an extension of our own for a while.
      Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

  3. The Bennett family (Canberra and London) are saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. I have many happy memories of Christmas and New Year celebrations each year as I was growing up in McCracken Street.

    1. I would like to say we were lucky to have such neighbours as your family but it was only partly luck. It was more the kind thoughtfulness of our parents who began and continued this lifelong relationship. We owe them all for giving us our understanding and appreciation of great neighbours and community. You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.
      Thank you for your thoughts.

  4. James and Bern were wonderful friends and have so many happy memories of times together. James was dedicated to his family and oh boy what a great family you were to him. So much love and so much laughter and caring. He was so proud to be called your dad, granddad and great grandad. You wrapped your arms around him when he lost his beloved Bern. Now they will be together again and you all will continue their legacy. James, RIP. You did an amazing job. Love Maree

    1. Dad cherished the friendships he made during his career. The great ones spilled over into his family life. It gave Mum and Dad much joy to bring everyone together and to count you among the many of these friends that lasted their lifetime.

  5. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time . The Walsh families 🙏🙏🌻 _ No 5 McCracken St

  6. I was thinking of your Dad just yesterday (August 2021) and sadly found his death notice from earlier this year. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. As my teacher at BSS he helped me through some tough days when my parents divorced. We stayed in touch for many many years, writing Christmas Cards to each other well into my adulthood. Mr Irwin (I could never call him Jim) was one of those special people in my life and I will always cherish the special memories I have of him.
